Sonya is a solicitor in BAL Lawyers’ award-winning Employment Law and Investigations team. Her practice includes advising both employers and employees on a wide range of workplace matters, including unfair dismissal, misconduct investigations, bullying and harassment (including sexual harassment), discrimination, adverse action, underpayments, breach of contract and enterprise agreements.

Prior to joining BAL Lawyers, Sonya worked at a recruitment agency, assisting with Senior Executive Service recruitment for the Australian Public Service. This experience provided her with valuable insight into the operations and complexities of Human Resources and the APS.

Sonya holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology, from the Australian National University. Her background has enabled her to bring a thoughtful and people-focused approach to her work, fostering a strong interest in psychosocial issues in the workplace.

Sonya joined BAL Lawyers as a graduate in 2025 and was admitted to practice in the ACT Supreme Court in October of the same year.
