Andrew’s practice focuses on town planning, local government and environmental law and he has successfully represented both developers and councils in a range of development appeals in the Land and Environment Court of NSW. Andrew also has experience in reviewing government decisions in the ACT and NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal and has acted for clients in a range of judicial review, civil enforcement and criminal proceedings in the Land and Environment Court of NSW and the NSW Local Court.
Andrew’s practice extends to advising clients on the interpretation of environmental planning instruments, development consents, existing use rights, pollution incidents and planning and environmental enforcement. He has also assists clients with land acquisitions (both compulsory and by agreement), having advised on acquisitions for major local council infrastructure projects, road widening and easements for services.
Having grown up in regional NSW, Andrew has a particular interest in the application of planning legislation for rural councils .
Andrew seeks to build lasting relationships with his clients, listening carefully to their needs to fully understand what they are dealing with in order to provide considered and practical solutions.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Science (Resource and Environmental Management) from the Australian National University. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in 2011 and joined BAL in 2016.
