Bruce’s focus on planning, environment and local government law is a natural career progression, building on over 30 years’ experience in planning, landscape architecture and civil construction for government and private sector clients.

As a lawyer, Bruce continues to work in the procurement sphere, advising local councils and private clients on a range of procurement, probity and contract issues. Bruce’s environmental law work focusses on interpreting NSW environment, planning and local government legislation and local planning instruments and development applications. Bruce also advises on a range of environmental and planning litigation matters, assisting local councils and private clients with matters in the NSW Land and Environment Court.

Bruce was admitted to practice in the ACT Supreme Court in February 2020 after joining BAL’s Planning, Environment and Local Government team in November 2019. Prior to commencing work at BAL, Bruce worked for a professional services firm.  The firm operated within state & federal government agencies, and other public sector clients providing procurement, probity and contracting advice.
