Bill has 25 years’ experience as a lawyer across numerous jurisdictions and practice areas. His expertise includes the personal conduct of litigation matters in the ACT, NSW, Queensland and South Australia in varying Courts and Tribunals.
Immediately prior to joining BAL, Bill acted for employers in an in-house role providing advice on commercial matters and disputes, employment matters and disputes, industrial relations issues, including Award interpretation and union consultations, and the management, conduct and defence of workers compensation claims.
Bill has several areas of industry expertise in fields such as emergency services, construction and commercial cleaning. He also has a long-standing interest in matters involving psychological injuries, including being called to give evidence to the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into workers compensation claims for psychological injury in 2022. Over many years, he has represented numerous government agencies, major insurers and self-insured employers in dealing with people risk issues.
Previously Bill spent 11 years as a Partner with Hicksons Lawyers, including 8 years as the Managing Partner of the Canberra office.
Bill was admitted as a solicitor in 1999 and has been admitted to the Supreme Courts of NSW and the ACT and the High Court of Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from UNSW.
