Christine has had a diverse career as a legal practitioner in both private and government practice and as a special magistrate of the ACT Magistrates Court. In addition, she has had significant experience working in professional associations and peak industry bodies at the national, state and territory level.
She has held positions as Director of Professional Standards of the Law Society of the ACT, Executive Director of the Law Society of the ACT, Deputy Secretary-General of the Law Council of Australia, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Junior Vice President of Professions Australia and Chief Executive Officer of The Victorian Bar.
In addition, Christine has been a director on boards of several companies in the not-for-profit sector including being a board member, and Vice President, of the Victorian Cytology Service Inc. (now the VCS Foundation). The mission of VCS is to improve public health outcomes globally through screening, monitoring and mass vaccination. Christine retired from the Board in February 2018 after serving 9 years as a Director with expertise in finance, commerce, corporate management and law.
In July 2008, Christine joined forces with Jill McSpedden when the firm became known as McSpeddenHarvey. In the following decade, the firm continued to prosper as a well established and recognised boutique legal services firm, focusing on estates, estate planning, conveyancing and business law. Jill and Christine joined BAL Lawyers Estates and Estate Planning Team in January 2020.
