If you sustain a workplace injury or contract an illness at work, you may be entitled to a range of benefits and compensation under a workers compensation scheme operating in the Territory.
It is your employer’s responsibility to provide a safe working environment. At times, the workplace conditions can cause or contribute to injury of a worker.
A specialist team at Bradley Allen Love deals with workers compensation claims. Whilst primarily acting for injured workers (or, in the case of death, their dependents) who have a right to receive workers compensation for sustaining or suffering an injury during the course of their work or on their way to or from work, we are often required to act for employers who are affected by the scope of the legislation that permits independent contractors to qualify for workers’ compensation; and employers who are uninsured in the Territory.
We also act for ACT and Commonwealth public servants in workers compensation claims. This includes the lodgement of the claim, preparation of requests for reconsideration and, if necessary, seeking review of decisions in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Claims involving the Commonwealth and aligned agencies are managed by Comcare, whilst claims made ACT public servants have been out-sourced and are now managed by EML.
