For the love of art
Stepping into our attractive foyer, you are immediately greeted with stunning art, including original paintings, prints and handcrafted furniture, many of which are created by local and emerging artists. Our ever-growing collection of contemporary art is symbolic of the engagement and support of the Canberra community espoused by Bradley Allen Love.
Our collection began a number of years ago through the passion of Bill McCarthy, Special Counsel, who believes that, “art adds a certain intangible aura to our lives”. Well known to Canberra artists and arts organisations, Bill is an active supporter of local artists through his role as pro bono lawyer for the Arts Law Centre of Australia and appointments to the Board of many local arts organisations, including ANCA and past organisations of Studio One, Megalo and MUSE. His continual quest for discovering quality art pieces to adorn our offices is shared by our Director, Keith Bradley.
This culture of artistic expression has spread throughout the firm and to this day we encourage our staff to undertake work they have a passion for or a connection with. This philosophy led to our firm winning the Creative Partnerships SME Award for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory in recognition for our work with Craft ACT.
BAL’s direct support of initiatives such as ANU’s Emerging Artist Support Scheme is visible throughout the offices with many pieces on display purchased from the School of Art Graduate Exhibition. In 2014 we had the opportunity to add some outstanding works from graduating student Joel Arthur to our collection. Joel’s work has been described as everything from paradoxical and metaphorical, to abstract and illusionary. His Refraction 32 grapples with understanding the intangible lines between objects and space, and Bradley Allen Love is thrilled to be supporting this upcoming Canberra talent.
